FIRST HARVEST: 1978

HISTORY: Produced since the 1978 harvest, it was most probably the first Portuguese wine brand to use a stage in new wood barrels. One of the company’s first brands; Throughout its course, the “philosophy” remains: to produce a wine with strong Alentejo personality resulting from grapes from different subregions.

PROFILE: The grapes came from the vineyards of Herdade da Tinoca (Portalegre), Herdade de Santa Marta (Borba) and Herdade das Ânforas (Arraiolos). The Aragonez was harvested early in the first week of September, the Touriga Nacional was picked up in the middle of the month and the Cabernet Sauvignon was the last one at the end of September.

VINIFICATION: After a careful selection of the varieties Aragonez, Touriga Nacional, Trincadeira and Cabernet Sauvignon, the varieties are vinified separately in stainless steel vats at controlled temperatures.

Service Temperature: 16-18ºC

TASTING NOTES: A harvest that presents itself with power and elegance. Color: Vivid color, intense and deep. Aroma: notes of black fruits and vanilla, combined with a floral nuances of the Touriga Nacional. Palate: It is concentrated, with a balanced acidity and firm and elegant structure. It has a great guarding potential.

GASTRONOMY: The Amphora Tinto combines very well with traditional Alentejo dishes, such as crumbs, slaw or cooked in the jar. Various game dishes such as boar and hare and elaborate dishes, such as baked lamb in the oven also harmonize well with this wine. In general, they are dishes with enough condiments and meats of the region. If you wish to harmonize with entrances, choose cured cheeses and all kinds of sausages typical of the region.
