The grapes come from vines over 25 years old, from selected stands, in years in which maturation occurs smoothly, maintaining the aromatic potential of the caste ‘s own extract. He spent 18 months in barrels of wood over 50 years and capacity of 3,000 liters, followed by bottling in the cellars of the Cartuxa Convent.
Winemaker’s comments: Great mouth structure, rich with silky and polished tannins, black plum and cocoa flavors. Steady, engaging and sophisticated, it ends long and delicately. One of the best reds in Alentejo and Portugal.
PeraManca is the “ex-libris” of the Eugénio de Almeida Foundation, located in the city of Évora. .
Its name is due to the land where it was made, a ravine with many loose stones. It was said then that these stones swayed, they stoned. From the “stony stones” came the “Pera-Manca”, which is only produced in the best years.
