CARTUXA COLHEITA

Produced from the vine varieties Trincadeira, Aragonez, Alfrocheiro, Periquita, Moreto and Tinta Caiada, planted in the vineyards of the Eugénio de Almeida Foundation – Évora.

These wines associate their quality with the name of the Carthusian monks who, since 1598, lead a solitary life of prayer in the Convent of Santa Maria Scala Coeli.

When the grapes reach the ideal stage of maturation, they are harvested and transported to the winery, where the technological process begins with total destemming and slight crushing. The grapes are then fermented separately in stainless steel tanks at a temperature of 27 ° C, followed by prolonged post-fermentative maceration.

It aged for 12 months in barrels and barrels of French oak and 6 months in bottle.

They are wines with good structure, elegant and that combine the aromas of the varieties used for a persistent and complex flavor.

In May 2014, the Cartuxa 2011 red wine received the silver medal, awarded in the Portuguese Wine Competition, the largest national wine contest in our country. The award ceremony took place on May 28, at Palácio da Bolsa in Oporto, and brought together more than 1,070 wines from all over the country submitted to the evaluation of an international jury (75 Portuguese jurors, 25 foreigners), under the aegis of ViniPortugal.
