Abandoned comes from a vineyard to spend the 80 years of age, with several failures derived from a partial abandonment during some years.

In a zone of intense exposure and with enormous outcrops of schist on the surface where not a single herb subsists.

The people of Quinta quickly called it “Vinha do Abandonado“. For years they tried to reclaim the vine and replant the disappeared vines. Until they gave up.

Despite all the care only the older strains were able to subsist in such extreme conditions. In 2004 it was isolated for the first time in the Quinta da Gaivosa winery.

He immediately revealed a unique personality and character.

It was bottled in homage to the equally unique old Douro vineyards, which will one day disappear.
